Portuguese National Association of Green Roofs (ANCV)
Portuguese National Association of Green Roofs (ANCV) is an NGO-Non-Governmental Organization, founded in 2015. ANCV’s mission is to promote green infrastructures in cities, such as green roofs, highlighting their enormous importance, and the numerous contributions they can give to the possibility to create healthy, sustainable, biodiverse, and resilient urban territories. It promotes collaboration between companies, municipalities, and national and foreign research groups.
There was a need to add to the lack of technical guides adapted to the Portuguese climate, so ANCV created the first Portuguese Technical Guide for Green Roofs. This guide was launched in the beginning of 2020, backed by the Order of Engineers and is currently being adopted by engineering, architecture and municipal offices.
ANCV has worked alongside municipalities in several projects. One of these projects was the consultancy and planning of green roofs using synergies with photovoltaic panels, and the PQAP project, that won a prize in Italy, during the “Green Infrastructure: Nature Based Solutions for Sustainable and Resilient Cities” Congress.
Through international cooperation, ANCV has created an extremely complete world map of incentive policies for green roofs and walls. (https://www.greenroofs.pt/en/policy-map).
